Thank you for your interest in visiting Iris Ministries. We are greatly blessed by the abundance of volunteers wanting to come and serve the Lord at Iris bases-upwards of 1,500 every year!
When visiting Iris bases we consider a 2-3 week visit a short term missions visit. Opportunities for ministry abound at all of our bases. As a visitor you will not have the full attention of any missionaries, staff or translators. Please plan on being as self-reliant as possible.
We ask that you come with willing hands. There are countless opportunities to serve the poor and the poor in spirit. Ministry here can look like holding a baby or playing soccer, digging trenches or washing dishes in the cafeteria, putting a new roof on a house for widows or cleaning up trash. There is always something to be done and if look for a way to serve, you will surely find it. Your experience visiting an Iris base will be defined by what you choose to pursue each day.
One of our largest priorities is to shower all of the children on our bases with love. Mothers and fathers are a real blessing to the children who have lost their own. They have been adopted by Jesus but still need lots of hugs from visitors. We are always amazed and greatly honored at all of the love-in-action that our short term visitors bring to us each year. We also see again and again that God does an amazing work in each visitor. Be open to what God may do with you here! He truly is a great God!
Thank you again for your interest in what the Lord is doing at Iris bases. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your further questions. We will do our best to provide reliable answers to your questions and help you in any way possible. May the Lord direct you, as you continue to open your heart and seek him!
